I've packed about ten years of these.

I'm Sangita. Two boys, and I've been making their school lunches for about a decade. Eight of those years, both of them at once.

So I know the part nobody warns you about. It's not the making. It's opening the bag at four o'clock and finding it exactly the way you packed it.

You were up at six thirty. It was halal, it followed the school's rules, it was reasonably healthy. And it came home untouched, because something about it was slightly wrong in a way an eight-year-old can't explain and won't bother trying to.

Ten years of that teaches you which things get eaten and which ones come back. That's what the menu is built out of. You can't get it from a survey.

And there's the twenty minutes a night you get back. Over a 190-day school year that's more than sixty hours.

One drop-off and the week's done.

Step 1: Pick a plan

One child, two, or more. Tell us their ages so the portions come out right. A fourteen-year-old eats more than a six-year-old and we don't charge you extra for it.

Step 2: We come Saturday or Sunday

Whichever day your street is on. Same day every week, so it stops being something you have to think about. Everything arrives cold in an insulated tote, and we take the tote back next time.

Step 3: Three days in the fridge, two in the freezer

Monday through Wednesday go straight in the fridge. Thursday and Friday come frozen. Move them down to the fridge on Wednesday night and they're ready to go.

That's the one thing we need you to remember, and we'll send you a reminder. It's how you get a full week out of a single delivery without Friday's lunch having been made five days earlier.

Step 4: Grab it and go

Right container, into the bag, done. If you've got three kids, everything's already labelled and separated. Nobody's splitting anything up at 7:40 in the morning.

One standard. Nothing else in the building.

A commercial kitchen with stainless steel prep counters and cooking bays

Plenty of kitchens will do you a halal option. It comes off the same line as everything else with a clean-down in between. Some of them are careful about it. It's still a weaker promise than it sounds, and no certificate changes that.

We don't cook non-halal at all. Nothing to separate, nothing to schedule around, nothing to scrub between batches, because it isn't here.

The rest of it, briefly. We cook and chill under a written food safety plan with temperatures logged the whole way through, in a Toronto commercial kitchen that Toronto Public Health inspects. Every batch can be traced back. The dates on your containers come out of lab testing rather than somebody's estimate.

We're going through certification with a Canadian certifier now. The day that certificate lands you'll see it here, on the packaging and on every menu. Until then we're not putting a badge on this page.

Nothing to lose by trying it

  • Skip a week whenever you want. March break, chickenpox, a week at their grandmother's. Skip it from your account and you're not charged. As often as you like.

  • Cancel whenever. From your account, and it stops at the end of that week. No fee, and you don't have to call anyone to do it.

  • School holidays. We don't deliver and we don't charge.

  • Also included: portions by age at no extra cost, delivery on your day, the insulated tote, and a real person on the phone or WhatsApp in English, Bengali, Hindi or Urdu.

Does your school do lunches?

Most Islamic schools around here don't have a kitchen, so there's no lunch service at all and every family sorts it out on their own.

We can run the whole thing. No kitchen needed, no equipment, nothing to pay up front. Menus, the allergen and nutrition paperwork parents ask for, and we'll help with the billing.

If you run a school, or you want us to talk to your child's, tell us.
